the love of wool

Im just a little bit in love with wool.
Always have been, always will be.
The colour saturation it holds once dyed is nothing short of sublime to my eyes, but even bright colours always seem to remain soft somehow. The pure texture of the weave and the cross threading where different shades make another brings a certain fascination of forethought.
But can someone please explain why I have fifty blankets in the stash?
I know supplies were low last year just as I was getting into production and things slowed down to real slow when I thought that I was going to run out completely, but fifty is a bit many.
Its hard to find where store them too. They are taking over the house. This stack above is on the chair in the dining room without a home to go to.

I guess its lucky I love wool so much.
How about you? Is your fabric stash taking over your house?

You are so talented. I love your ideas and looking at your blog. What a wonderful way to recycle old Woolen blankets ... very clever. I know I've commented on them before, but every time I see them I just love them more and more.

Not my fabrics but my doilies are. I've just integrated the neatly placed fabrics into the decor. hehe but the doilies are all messy in baskets. It's a good thing the stacks look so pretty. I missed you while you were away. Cherrie

Maybe you'' get the Smith Family knocking on your door come winter and think of all those little canines whose owners will have to make do with other textiles. Cherrie
PS I deleted the other comment because there were two of the same.

when we moved last year, we downsized (actually half-sized).... if I packed up my stash of fabric, yarn and supplies - it may make things easier - but really it's my lifeline... I can't do that! So my house always looks like a crazy woman's laundry gone wrong!

I love wool blankets, but very few places stock them these days. I adore those colours! I have some of my fabric stash in my wardrobe and every time I open the door the stash (in various 'bag for life' bags) fall out on me like 'snakes on a plane'. Another thing to drive my husband nuts!

I adore the colours and don't despair you will NEED all of them for your amazing jackets. I tend to be a hoarder of cushions I am constantly making them. I drive Kyland nuts as he currently has 5 in his room which look great on his bed but he is such a "mountain man" that all he cares for is a single pillow and quilt!

I was hunting for old sheets in the oppie the other day and I must admit, I was wondering it they had all disappeared into craft and blog land.

I would have nowhere to put a stash like that! I do love wool though. Cozy, beautiful and soft. I think a cull might be in order for you? Or a major sewing spree. x

You have been a very bad influence on me. I was at the oppy the other day and walked out with three woollen blankets for $12 (is that good?). They're sitting on the sewing room floor - I don't know where to put them??? I thought of you. I wondered about how you store all your blankets.
Looking forward to learning how to sew with these... any tips?
