my creative space: tonights edition no 2

This was my Happy Hour for the week.
When I chose to finish this.
Its the first quilt I ever started, and I never ended up finishing it.
I think its one of those that is supposed to have 520 squares, if anyone knows the proper name can you leave me a comment?, but I dont know if I reached that amount. My friends all started one at the same time so many cups of tea and square swapping later, they finished theirs and I didnt. I dont know why. I simply moved on to unfinish another quilt.

I chose to back it with this sprig mix. It reminds me of something from my childhood
but im not quite sure what.

I only had a few rows left to do on the diagonal.

I stitched the front to the wadding in chequer along the seams of the squares
and the back I did on the diagonal.

This is the moment I finished. I took a photo for the archives.

Slicing off the excess on the entry floor with the dog watching on. I was feeling gleeful by now.

I machine stitched the binding on in a hurry because...

I knew there was only one step left.
Its sitting on the couch waiting for me so over the next couple of nights ill be stitching merrily.
If you want to post something about your week that made you happy head over to DorothyBills.

I got busy cutting out some girls wrap tops next.

Some nice scraps piling up for another quilt. Ignore I wrote that.

I had enough for four in a nice cherry berry print.

The washing piled up and

Rustico gave up on his dream of a walk and

the second lot of dishes sat unnoticed.

Today, I dont care.
Today, I finished a quilt.

You're on fire. Woot Woot. I'm sure Rustico is really lying there and thinking he wouldn't have the energy to do half of what you've done today.

Well done. I love quilt finishing days. I would call it a postage stamp quilt. One of my faves.

Looks beautiful - I love the red and blue backing fabric. And may I say that that is the neatest pile of neglected laundry I have ever seen!

Yay! How exciting finally finishing such a big long running project. It will have to be placed in a very visible spot for maximum commenting opportunities!
