getting ready for a festival

Theres a line up happening on my usual cabinet for the Mordialloc Food and Wine festival this coming weekend.
If only I knew way back when I booked (and paid) nine months ago that id be trying to replenish stock at an all time low, while I was moving house! I think I would have hesitated.
But I had a really good and fun market there last year and I couldnt help myself.

By now you are fully aware of my madness and that im just a little bit okay at pushing the boundaries of production. So im up to five jackets so far while the menfolk have been outside doing the final garden tidy up and they are allowing me this time to sew my cheeks off. In fact ive been speaking orders of what is next to do over the loft railing for most of the afternoon while I had an enjoyable time up yonder in the loft that ill be saying goodbye to tomorrow by way of dismantling the shelving and tables. Only one more day.

The favourite jacket of the the day is this one with a cowboy print hood lining and red denim on the back yoke.

I had almost forgotten about the little people the Mr was making in time for last weekends market out at Rokeby. He got one done in time. I didnt mention that ive been meeting up with Zjahlii, babies too of course, and mum for the morning and I adore this quaint little place to sell my wares. Its such a cruisey working day.

Anyway here is the new prop which took pride of place at the front of the stall on saturday. Wish id thought to take a shot in situ as it looked so cool.

Her/his legs just come right out of the base ready to dress in whatever I fancy. Brothers and sisters are coming up, but maybe we should move house first.

This little size 3 grass and olive check jacket was part of a shop update today.

quietness

There is a quietness here. Two days until the move and its lovely and still, like an intake of breath.
Slowly walking through im taking it all in before I forget what it was like to live in this house.
But there it is right there. This, this was a house that we lived in. Great lofty space and white walls but not a home entirely.
It was somewhere we needed to be for while we needed it. For a purpose that no longer exists. So im saying goodbye to the rooms with no hint of emotion for it will only be the soft colour of the front walls that I miss. Easily sorted by painting some at the next place. Which has good bones all of its own in a more humble form and we love it to bits. The next place we will make into our home.

A found print on the way home from market yesterday that I keep moving around from room to room for some reason.

A book im reading sits on the bedside table.

The wardrobe will be the last place to be packed in the lead up to a big cull. I will sew something for me to go with some finds from yesterday.

A boxful of scarves waits on a table while I get sidetracked sorting of shoes and bags.

Ill miss the view of grasses from the bed.

Another vintage find will be a gift. The missing piece of a friends collection that I instigated.
A thankyou for a kind favour she did me.

Wishing you all an equally slow sunday..

ps  My niece came to stay last night for a delightful sleepover with a couple of friends and it was great to spend time with her watching a girly movie while scoffing lollies and chocolates girl style. We walked to have pizza at La Porchetta then grabbed a movie to settle in for the night. I hope she returns soon with as many friends as will fit at the new place and I hope to not be so worn out next time. Loved your visit Avy!

the organised me

It must have been the organised me who showed up at the right time yesterday because ive almost packed the entire house in the last 24 hours.  Apart from my clothes and fabrics and a few of the random big things we seem good to go.
Im astonished as to how easy the process was too. Get a box and put stuff in it. I guess I really am a last minute girl. The Mr helped along the way by getting everything out of the cupboards, right in my line of sight and very hard to ignore.
I think ive said before now that I hated him doing this as I liked to go methodically at my own pace but this time around we were a team. How do you tackle your packing? Have you found that perfect strategy? Actually, now that I think of it, the best move I ever performed was the time I packed by colour and marked the boxes blue, green, white etc. Very easy to find things at the other end!

.

This morning when I woke up I sprang out of bed and felt like making some cushions for the new place. I chose my favourite two blankets at the moment and 20 minutes later they were on the couch. No zips of course.
I realised I havent done a whole lot of restyling homewise lately and after some op-shop drops over the last couple of weeks the linen cupboard is looking a bit empty. Ive also been finding those old thick cotton white bed sheets in odd sizes and am going to make them into a quilt cover in time to put on the bed for the first night. I have to give myself a deadline or they will stay as unused sheets

The Mr is out making some little tree people for my market stall and he needs me to hold the wood while he cuts so seeya!

the first real day of packing

Im packing my toosh off today and have finally started on the huge job of going through the artwork to hang at the new place while I think about more that I would like to do. Something like these would be such a good colour injection for the new walls.

shop update

Part of my shop update tonight.

This is one of Zjahliis vintage wool coats and there will be some other things of hers as well. She was supposed to create her own little piece of Etsy, (its nearly there) but she is too slow so im uploading them for waiting customers into my shop for now.

Check the shop for sizes as im off for a nanna nap after having the grandbabies for the last few days. It has been heavenly. Oh and the potato fixed my blogger account in two easy clicks, grrr. Should have asked him earlier. Dont you love that!

a family weekend

There has been lots of juggling of babies and cuddles here in the pats couple of days leading up to doing the market at Red Hill today. This is not a shot of the stall as it was today, no sirree as it was overcast and drizzly on and off. This is care of Eleesa taken when she popped in at Mornington Main street last week and she performed, as she often does, a quick restyling to great effect for an unfocused me.
Thanks to her effortless touches the marquee felt fresh and funky and I found myself a little bit in awe of her stylists eye.
But im getting sidetracked. Getting back to the present, Zjah has been down from the country for a few days sewing and she wanted to be on board for todays market so weve been sewing winter jackets together, movie watching in between, a little bit of baking in form of a pumpkin, basil and feta quiche followed by banana cake, cuddling baby Archer to sleep as he is the snuggly kind that likes to fall asleep nestled into your neck which is swoon worthy if you ask me, and weve had Violet baby here spending time with her cousins taking some first steps! Things are delightful in a lot of ways.

Blogger is still acting strangely and im lost as to how to fix it. A shop update will be happening tomorrow if I get the chance. Im hoping to sew even more eskimos while Zjah is here as its so great having someone to chat to while stitching plus she wants to find out the tricks involved with doing the cardigans and knits. Did I mention I have two of the largest bagfuls ready to be chopped up and played with? Time to stop opshopping and time to get cutting dont you think!

my creative space

In between moments of organizing for the move ive been solidly working on some eskimos ready for winter. Unfortunately my Blogger interface is playing up and I cant write proper posts. I got halfway through last nights post and it wouldnt allow me to type anymore.
I wanted to introduce the beautiful makings of my friend Jess, who has been handcrafting the little beanies and headbands that were in the last photo on my market table. She is using upcycled wool and then is dying it with plants and vegetables and the colours are simply gorgeous.
Im so grateful to have her things to add to my simple upcycled Hoodwinks as I think they complement each other well.
Well, I cant seem to view what im typing here in the posting 'box' and im unsure of how to supply a link to the other creative spaces so im just gonna get back in the sewing groove
