flea market finds

For Flea Market Finds this week I have some nice found objects.
This smock dress is pure silk and fits me perfectly.
Look for me in this at the next Mulgrave Makers Market.
I do not know at what stage I suddenly turned into a pink lover....in my defense it has a leafy treelike print with birds and had me at hello.

These were in the very same case almost right next to each other at my local-fast-becoming-my-favourite-op-shop and screamed Eleesa. So I had to get these as a thankyou for all her support and encouragement with my recent foray into markets. I wouldnt have made it without her guidance as im a bit of a dufus when it comes to organising myself and getting 'out there'.

These buckles will go onto something I made for my son and a jacket and perhaps a handbag, plus the buttons will be perfect on some of my Little Tree Kids range.

I love having a supply of vintagey, weird and wonderful postcards for handwritten notes and there are too many for me to get through in one sitting at my local secondhand bookstore. Im even tempted to buy the ones that have already been written on. Especially shaky granny handwriting.

For those of you still unaware of how large these babies are, (and what one of you will win tomorrow),
scroll down...

Funny but MrTL just adored this mexican one and had to have it for his quilting.

This one has also been snapped up by a dear friend who loved it.
Unbeknownst to me shes been struggling pin-cushionless for days/months/years!

It has vintage barkcloth sides and a pure linen base.

Good luck everyone with the draw ill be posting tonight at midnight!

P.S.  I have been asked if I could list these in my etsy store and will place some in there very soon for those who cant make it to the market and would like one. I will post worldwide, obviously.

flea market finds

Im a sucker for anything that reflects the seasons apparently.  And these tapestries are what I found when I was out country last week. At $3.00 each I couldnt leave them. The frames are the perfect size for a project ive been waiting to start. I do love them but they are so dated that now im at a loss as to how best to update them while not destroying the work that someones loving hands have so patiently worked.
Perhaps she started the one for summer during, well, Summer

and the Winter scene sitting by the fire one long cold winter.

The Spring blossom tree really caught my eye

but because its Autumn now this one is my current favourite.

So what do you think I should do? The green and brown surrounds need to disappear and the frames kind of let them down too. How best could I showcase such lovely work while giving them a modern take? Ive thought about surrounding them in natural linen and keeping them together in one big frame but id love to hear any other ideas,
please help.

Be sure to pop on over here to see some more lovely finds.

Hope you had a cosy autumnal weekend with the ones you love, x

flea market finds

Here is a painting I came across while I was interstate recently. Just $8! I should have included the frame in this shot, oops. Has anyone else found something that they couldnt leave behind thinking by hook or by crook im taking this home. I dont care how hard this is to get on the plane! This painting is nearly a metre long. The glass got cracked in the corner but this happens alot in my place.

We once moved into our new abode and happily spent the afternoon hanging all of our favourite pictures to make it feel more like home, only to be woken in the middle of the night by a huge crash. The picture that had decided to fall was another one that I brought back from my camping trip to tasmania, (yepp another attempt to get it through online baggage experience) Idiot. Not to mention how hard it was to camp and carry around a painting. It looked lovely in the dappled, slightly too green, light of the tent. Yeh right.
The main attraction of the painting in question was the hundred year old glass.
Did you know that glass is fluid, meaning it never quite hardens? Thats why old glass looks the way it does. I have never replaced the glass because I cant bear to put something other than the perfect glass back.

Oh and here is something else I got excited when I found recently
