a tidy room

Okay, so youll have to forgive me for posting a bit too much about home lately.
I have a secret. Ive been keeping something from you all. I spent this morning spring cleaning my bedroom because yesterday was Attack The Clothes Monday.
 .
If you dont understand what im getting at you need to check out Samantha's blog, An Organised Mum.

She has great new tips on some really hard core home organising issues. I thought I was doing okay, fumbling along from day to day, until I decided to try her way of tackling things. Im loving it! Yesterday I found myself folding the washing and enjoying it. All twelve loads that had been thrown on the bedroom floor, and they had sat there and been added to for over a week. Oh... the shame....
Yesterday I wasnt overwhelmed or distracted. I just plodded along and got it done. Okay, ill admit it took me two movies to complete. But today I can show off my bedroom and be proud of what I achieved.

I havent done any crafting to speak of and mostly ive just been designing stuff in my head this past week.
Mr TL wants to talk about house plans most evenings so that is occupying my time too. I took these shots for me just to catalog and maybe place in a Flickr group, as you do. The book you see was given to me by a friend the other evening when I visited. She hadnt even had a chance to read it herself. I finished reading it today and it was a charming story from another time and place about a girl who volunteers at a country camp looking after little children on holiday, and all the obstacles she encounters. I probably should be folding my huge pile of washing that covers most of the bedroom floor instead of taking pretty pictures.
But I dont want to, maybe tomorrow....

fix it friday

Im joining in the action over at MayaMade with Fix It Friday. I found it a couple of weeks ago but right on the day that this happened.....

To my horror, the other day I was happily going about my day when this unearthly boom followed by a groaning noise came from the laundry. I raced into the room to find it was my dryer. I quickly switched it off at the wall. My heart sank as I knew the chaos that would follow without a working dryer. I do roughly three to four loads per day and the rains were threatening to come all week. My washing pile grew and im still sitting here staring at the remnants of todays, and to be honest yesterdays lot too, without the energy/willingness to bother folding even one thing. I left the broken dryer there for two whole weeks before I summoned the nerve to take the back off to see what the damage was.
But the good news is that we were able to fix it. I must have gotten to it in time to do no damage to the inside workings. There was just a screw loose and the inner barrel had simply dropped from its axis. My son even helped me fix it as it was a two person job. Part of me is joyous still to know that some things can be fixed in this all-too-quick-to-throw-away-society.

I plan to get out the tool box next week too. Do you have something you need to fix or maybe just have mending to do? Pop on over to see what everyones been tackling. Can you hear the buzz from here?
